Snow Shoveling is Not a Minor Thing

While most of us rejoiced when the city announced that after 3 weeks it was resuming its enforcement of the snow shoveling ordinance, Public Works Director Rob Kaczorowski has this to say:

"It's a minor thing to me," he said.

I agree it is not minor, it is dangerous. While I give some credit to those whom have cleared their sidewalks some of these people have shoveled the snow in such a way that it blocks the end of their property line on the sidewalk. It makes their sidewalk passable but not past it, you have to walk in the street to get around it. Many people have managed to do whats right, many just don't care. I have a few such neighbors and they are not elderly they are young fully cable people who just don't care.

There are a lot of kids in this city that walk to the bus or walk to school. The sidewalks need to be clear for them to have safe passage as well, something I haven't heard anyone talk about. I've seen kids waiting on the street for their bus and walking up dangerous streets like Hazelwood avenue. Definitely NOT minor.
